FAQ

What is Sezzle?

Sezzle is a payment solution that gives you the freedom to buy now and pay later - with no interest! When you place an order through Sezzle, our unique approvals system reviews your account to determine what sort of repayment plan we can offer. In most cases, it's 25% of the order total due up-front (also called your "downpayment" or "first installment"), with the remaining amount divided up across three more installments, each due two weeks apart. No interest, no up-front or hidden fees. In fact, as long as you pay off your installments on time, there are no fees at all! When your order is placed, Sezzle pays the merchant in-full for the order immediately - so the merchant has their funds and is able to process your order just like if you had paid them in full with a credit card! This isn't layaway, so the merchant fulfills your order within their normal shipping and processing times. Our checkout is straight forward - simply shop at a merchant that offers Sezzle, select "Sezzle" at checkout, and we walk you through the rest of the process.

How does Sezzle impact my credit score?

Sezzle does offer an upgraded account called Sezzle Up with a feature to build your credit, access to your limit, and a boost, as well as exclusive in-app merchants. At this time, Sezzle does not report activity to any credit bureaus for users not enrolled in Sezzle Up. You can read more about Sezzle Up and credit reporting:

I was declined for an order - why?

One of the great benefits of using Sezzle is our ability to evaluate customer limits and potential approvals with every purchase attempt. Our automatic system reviews how long you've been a Sezzle shopper, the information you provided at sign up (the soft credit check), any order history with Sezzle, among a few other factors. Because of our unique approval process, including the fact that we don't have fixed limits, we're able to provide our shoppers with a completely free service. This approval process is entirely automated and is not something we are able to override. Here are some additional options to get an order approved: Join Sezzle Up! Once you have completely paid off an order and you are in the U.S. you should be able to sign up for an upgraded account with Sezzle Up! Signing up with Sezzle Up will give you a limit boost, access to exclusive in-app merchants, and the ability to see your Sezzle limit. Joining Sezzle Up is easy. You should see instructions on how to join Sezzle Up on your Sezzle dashboard, including the requirement of having one order paid off. This will give you access to your limit along with a boost, access to exclusive in-app merchants, and the possibility to build your credit with Sezzle! Lower the amount of your order Start small! First-time shoppers are often approved for purchases around $50-$200 initially. As you use Sezzle and successfully pay off orders on time, we're usually able to approve larger orders. Verify your account was created correctly Make sure all of your account information is accurate - for example, entering the wrong birth date or misspelling your name can cause you to be declined for orders. Learn more about updating account information here. Double-check your payment method If you don't have a payment method tied to your account, or we aren't able to charge it (because it's expired or there aren't enough funds available), you won't be able to place any new orders. Learn more about adding payment methods here. Check for failed payments, or pay off outstanding installments If you have a failed payment on your account, you won't be able to place new orders until it's paid off. Learn more about failed payments here. If you have existing unpaid orders, they may also prevent you from being able to place a new order. Paying off existing orders entirely may allow you to place a new order. Learn more about paying off installments early here.

How do I reschedule a payment?

We understand that unexpected things can happen to your payment method—a card gets stolen, a deposit is a day late, or the budget for the week just didn't quite work out. Because our goal is financial empowerment, we provide you with three reschedules per order so that you can adjust your payments to dates that work best for you. Your first reschedule for an order is totally free! This means you can push your installment out by up to two weeks, at no additional cost. At the same time, you can also automatically adjust any future installments out by the same time frame, also at no additional cost. While an installment can only be moved out to two weeks from the originally scheduled date, you are able to reschedule the installment again if needed, but the second and third reschedules come with a fee* that is charged with the installment. For example, if you moved an installment out by three days, but then needed to move it out again later, a fee would be added to that installment. However, you can always reschedule a payment to an earlier date for no charge. To learn more about paying off installments early, please read more here. To reschedule an installment, simply log into your Sezzle dashboard and select the order you'd like to adjust. You'll then have the ability to edit the installment you'd like to change. Select a date from the drop-down selection, review the terms and fees, and make sure to check the box if you'd like all other installments automatically rescheduled as well! Then hit "Confirm" to finalize the process. Tips

  • Make sure to review the reschedule window! Once you hit confirm, the reschedule is finalized. If you don't select the option to automatically reschedule the remaining installments, you will need to manually reschedule them and you may be charged the rescheduling fee.
  • We recommend rescheduling payments at least 48 hours before the due date to ensure the reschedule is successful. If you reschedule a payment within 48 hours of the day that it was originally due, we cannot guarantee the reschedule will be successful, and the installment may still be charged as originally scheduled.
  • Once a rescheduling fee has been added, moving the date to an earlier date will not remove the fee.
